The Fundació Catalunya Voluntària-FCV team is glad to announce the I International Forum ‘Volunteering in the Arab World – Challenges and Opportunities’, which will be held from the 29th of April until the 4th of May in Vilanova i la Geltrú and Barcelona. This first ever international forum held in Europe for the representatives of voluntary organizations from the Arab countries is truly an historic event, which is being organized and promoted by the FCV.
The participants of this forum will be leaders in the voluntary sector, directors and managers of non-profit and non-governmental organizations from different countries of the Arab region. Among the participating countries are: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Siria, Sudan, Tunisia and Yemen.
The objectives of this forum are to share information about volunteering projects, initiatives and good
practices developed by the participating organizations and to find opportunities for mutual learning and collaboration among Catalan, Spanish, European and international civil society organizations.
Furthermore, the FCV will be organizing a fair of entities where young people will be able to get to know the organizations that are already developing volunteer projects in the Arab countries.
In continuation, this international forum will also host an institutional meeting that will be aimed towards identifying the main challenges that volunteerism faces in the Arab region and offering information and help in order to strengthen the collaboration between the Arab region, Catalonia and Europe. Moreover, the forum foresees to make a declaration that will further strengthen the institutionalization of volunteering in the region.
