Fundació Catalunya Voluntària participates in the International Forum for the institutionalization of volunteering in Morocco

The Fundació Catalunya Voluntària-FCV has been the only European entity that has participated in the International Forum for the Institutionalization of Volunteering in Morocco, which took place on December 14th and 15th in Casablanca. The meeting was the result of the efforts of Moroccan civil society in order to give legal status to voluntary organizations and volunteers in the country. That makes Morocco the third country in the Arab world to have a volunteering law.

The forum, organized by the Moroccan Center for Volunteering and Citizenship-CMVC, counted on the institutional support of the Moroccan government, represented by the minister and responsible for the relations in between Parliament and civil society, Mustapha El Khalfi, as well as volunteer organizations, cameras of commerce and Moroccan, Tunisian, Algerian and Libyan authorities. Lluc Martí, program coordinator at the FCV, presented the Catalan Law 25/2015, of July 30, on volunteering and promotion of associationism, and encouraged the participants to create their own model of voluntary work, which aims to a social, economic, human, cultural and environmental development, boosting a strategic response to the challenges of today’s society.

Despite being a small entity, the FCV plans to continue to carry out a solid support for different entities in the Maghreb countries and the Arab world in order to strengthen networking among organizations in the region and worldwide, and to promote the mobility of young people in voluntary and training activities.
