From 16th to 20th November, the Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria is delighted to host the practical training experience ‘We Choose Peace’ in Barcelona. This activity takes place at the Casa del Mar, the FCV offices, and various locations throughout the city, with the participation of a group of six people, leaders of non-profit social organizations from the region’s network.
Following our collaboration on a training activity more than 10 years ago, earlier this year, three representatives from the network visited us in Barcelona for a brief study visit, on which we were able to agree on the joint organization of two activities this spring: this practical training experience and a youth mobility program, the ‘Learning from Nature-Vilanova Experience’, taking place in mid May.
The activity aims to explore the FCV’s peace culture promotion initiatives and training activities carried out in recent years, led by leaders of non-profit organizations. It also seeks to observe the organization’s operations and incorporate practices that reflect the culture of peace into its activities, while learning to organize events that help improve key skills and attitudes, such as peaceful communication, conflict management, and intercultural respect. Despite having only three days for the activity, we plan to visit a couple more organizations to learn about other experiences and perspectives, and, of course, to devote some time exploring the city.
We trust that this activity will motivate the network of organizations to develop new projects to promote and build peace, while achieving concrete impact, and that they will contribute to the peace efforts taking place in Europe and internationally on such essential and critical issues as integrating peace education into work with young people.
