Hola! My name is Tereza and I am from Greece. For the past few months, I have been living in Barcelona, where I am participating in the European Solidarity Corps at FCV.
Barcelona is a city full of life, colours, and people, where there is always something new to discover or something to do. Maybe this is also the reason why it reminds me so much of Athens. Even though I am in a different country, I never felt like I had to start from zero. Adapting to daily life and the culture came quite naturally.
Living close to the sea completely changes your everyday life. Within around fifteen minutes, you can find yourself at the beach, which makes life feel more peaceful and helps you disconnect, recharge, and find your balance again.
At the same time, my experience at FCV gives me the opportunity to see how a civil society organisation works in another country. Having also worked in an NGO in Greece, it is very interesting to exchange ideas, discover different approaches, and gain new experiences that help me grow both professionally and personally. Moreover, meeting people from different countries and cultures makes this experience even more special.
Of course, not everything is perfect. Summer in Barcelona is... a small challenge. The humidity makes the heat feel more intense than in Greece, and the fact that many homes do not have air conditioning is something I am still trying to get used to.
Nevertheless, I am looking forward to seeing what the next months will bring and all the things I still must learn, experience, and share.
