In ocassion of the International Day of Peace, in the current context marked by a genocide in Gaza and the war of invasion in Ukraine, we want to publish again an article FCV wrote 4 years ago on which we highlight the need of focusing all the necessary peace efforts to defeat war culture by advocating for the abolishment of wars.
The article explains that wars must be considered as a CRIME, and seen not only as a useless,wild, abusive,disproportionate (but also heroic) way to solve any type of conflict, but as what they are: the most criminal, immoral and illegal act any government or organization can do.
For 5 years, at the FCV we shared this idea to a big number of people on several occasions, in international forums in other countries, and we asked experts and leaders, including top figures, to do something about it if, in coherence with their speeches, they want peace to become a reality.
The FCV also sent this proposal to be included in the Catalan Pact for Peace, and wrote and submitted a proposal to the International Catalan Institute for Peace to invite other civil society organizations to create a Catalan Coalition for War Abolition, from the conviction that, if we create that coalition, nobody will be able to stop us.
To consider war as a crime won't stop all wars but it will be a huge milestone for humanity, so we can start calling things by their name and move from the current (pre)historic culture marked by the culture of war, violence, and pecking order.
