Do you want to help us create the conditions so that young people have an easier time accessing a job?
In a situation marked by precariousness, low salaries, partiality and difficulties of various kinds and nature, that many young people encounter in order to work, we ask ourselves: what needs to be changed to favor that young people find a job? What can we do to stop being in the queue of the whole of Europe when it comes to youth employment?
4 youth organizations from the 4 European countries with the highest rates of youth unemployment: Greece, Catalonia/Spain, Italy and North Macedonia, where approximately 25% (!) of young people are unemployed, we are carrying out a project to help create the conditions so that young people have it a little easier to access a first job, to create their own job or to improve their working conditions, assuming that the best tool to emancipate themselves and become more autonomous and free people it is precisely work. We also consider that working should have a certain relationship with one’s own personal and professional interests, with the education and training carried out and with one’s own abilities, three elements that, we understand, should help to find a job in what each one wants (and not the other way around).
Our proposal is based on:
- Analyze why we are in such a dramatic situation of youth unemployment.
- Make proposals thinking about what changes are necessary, surgical or structural, so that unemployed young people have more opportunities and facilities to work (also in what they want to work).
Aware of the complexity and difficulty of the problem, which, we insist, affects more than 1 out 4 young people in our country, we want to collaborate with all those individuals, groups and youth NGOs that wish to do so and, especially, with youth councils and youth branches of trade unions, entities that have a lot to contribute, because they know very well (better than us) what are the things that would be better to change.
If you want more information about the ‘Advocacy for Youth Employment’ project and how to be part of it, we encourage you to participate in the informative session, which will take place online, on the zoom platform, for 30/45 minutes, Monday 14 Febraury at 17:00.
The purpose of the session is:
1) to inform about the objectives, activities and expected results throughout the year 2022;
2) solve any doubts and clarify expectations;
3) create a team made up of those individuals who want to take part in the initiative, once informed about the tasks, responsibilities and opportunities that this entails.
We can already say that the main tasks of the team members will be 1) research and 2) collaborate in the design and implementation of campaigns for youth employment.
The ‘Advocacy for Youth Employment’ project is carried out with the support of the Erasmus + program of the European Commission and the Greek national agency. It is coordinated by NGO Inter Alia (Athens), in partnership with the Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria, Europiamo (Rome) and Sfera International (Bitola).
