From March 16th to 20th, the Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria is hosting its 5th international learning mobility activity in partnership with CEMEA – Centre de Entrainement Aux Méthodes de Education Active, thanks to the support of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program.
The city of Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) will welcome a group of 13 students of children’s and youth sociocultural animation, accompanied by two teachers. Before working as youth center managers, activity leaders, and facilitators, they will enjoy an intensive, but short week of learning from experience and exchange. The short-study visit program is packed with activities where the group will work together with young people and teenagers in Vilanova and Barcelona.
CEMEA offers accredited training in youth animation and non-formal education in all French departments to obtain the professional certificate to work with young people, in ‘popular education’ and in sports (CPJEPS), officially recognized by the French Government. This visit marks the first time a group from the Occitanie region is visiting Vilanova i la Geltrú.
We plan to carry out activities focused on learning about nature, art, and sports. Despite the limited time, we also hope to interact with members of some of the city’s youth groups and organizations, visit Barcelona, and, weather permitting, participate in as many outdoor activities as possible in the city’s natural spaces.
As usual, we look forward to collaborating again with organizations that exemplify the city’s long history of community involvement and are open to sharing a bit of their experience in organizing leisure-time activities, youth animation, and social and cultural events.
The activity aims to introduce participants to new practices and tools for organizing sociocultural activities for children and young people, to learn some Catalan, and to motivate the groups to participate in and organize more international exchange programs, having firsthand knowledge of their benefits, both in terms of intercultural exchange and learning, and in developing essential skills and attitudes for their jobs.
