Last 26 th of June the ECOrasmus project convened more than 60 participants from 20 countries in the online webinar’ ‘Eco-friendly and sustainable practices in educational youth work in Europe’, an international multiplier event which served to present the toolkit “Green Your Youth Project!” and the website http://www.ecorasmus.eu.
During 2 hours, team members presented the new website and encouraged participants to share eco-friendly practices and concerns, and make connections for future collaborations.
Team members presented numerous ideas on sustainability that are on the website and the toolkit. Some of these ideas consist of creating a green travel policy to keep the carbon footprint low, and they answered some of the questions raised by the participants in their registration forms, advising on how engage young people to use eco-friendly practice in their
activities; for example, by starting with something easy and integrate new tools in each new activity, considering that “behavioral change is slow”.
We encourage you to check the ECOrasmus website, full of useful resources to plan green and sustainable educational activities, and to download the manual, with many of these resources, which is available in 7 languages: Catalan, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, and Spanish.
Both website and manual are full of tips, ideas and practical guidelines to lower ecological footprint. In the manual, there is a list of green venues and modes of transportation to keep a low carbon footprint, for example. A notable feature on the website is the self-assessment questionnaires where organizers can see how sustainable their activities are; and, if anyone
has more ideas and practices on how to be sustainable, there is a section in the website to add new information as well.
Overall, both the toolkit and the website are very clean and user-friendly and have many resources to support NGO leaders to implement ecological activities only.
The project ‘ECOrasmus’ is coordinated by the European Intercultural Forum e.V (Germany) and promoted by the NGO Fundació Catalunya Voluntària, the Tree Party Foundation (the Netherlands) and Me Out Group (Hungary) with the support of the Erasmus + program of the European Commission.
