Do you know of any initiatives in your neighborhood to combat the climate emergency that you consider particularly innovative, useful, or relevant?
Are you part of a community-based group working to promote a healthier environment within the city?
Who can it help us understand our responsibility regarding waste management or the regeneration and restoration of natural spaces, to mention just a few of the many issues that concern us?
Are there any inventions, proposals, or initiatives, no matter how small, that need to be widely known?
Would you like to know where you can go to do something for the natural environment without leaving your neighborhood?
The project that the Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria plans to carry out in 2025 with the support of Barcelona City Council (within the framework of the general call for grants) is a second edition of the Podcast for a Sustainable City, titled “For a Healthy Environment” we have designed it to give maximum prominence to 24 private and non-profit initiatives from individuals, collectives, and groups, both formal and informal, from all the city’s neighborhoods that little or not at all known outside despite they are of great value because they help us live in a slightly healthier environment.
Since the work of identifying the most priority topics has already been done, the eight issues chosen are those that are part of Barcelona’s Commitment to a Sustainable City: 1) the climate emergency and rising temperatures; 2) the loss of biodiversity; 3) the food model and KM-O; 4) the energy model and the use of renewables; 5) water management; 6) waste management, 7) sustainable mobility and 8) the use of public spaces.
The podcast series is designed to give voice to diverse initiatives on these topics.
