Suha’s Experience at FCV
As my time in Barcelona comes to an end, I want to take a moment to reflect on my incredible time as an intern at FCV. This being my first internship, it has truly been an eye-opening and transformative experience. Working for an NGO dedicated to fostering intercultural programs has been both a privilege and a personal milestone.
When I was 16, I participated in a youth exchange organized by an NGO and funded by the U.S. State Department. That experience left a profound impact on me, shaping who I am today. Having the chance to contribute to an organization that promotes youth intercultural experiences and education—something I personally benefited from so deeply—has been immensely rewarding.
I am especially grateful for the mentorship and guidance of Lluc, Albert, and Zak, and for working alongside Alexandria, who made the experience even more enjoyable. I also feel fortunate to have met participants from the international training courses FCV organized. Hearing their perspectives and about their home organizations has been incredibly inspiring.
The role I played, creating content for the website and Instagram, was completely new to me and sometimes challenging, particularly the creative aspects. However, these tasks are crucial for FCV’s mission, and I’m thankful for the trust the organization placed in me to contribute to its important work.
This internship also offered me the opportunity to familiarize myself with the Catalan language, which has been a unique and enriching experience.
As my journey here concludes, I leave with invaluable experience, both professionally and personally. I know I will deeply miss the FCV team, coming to the office, and being part of something greater than myself. This chapter in Barcelona and at FCV has been unforgettable, and I carry with me immense gratitude for everything I’ve learned and the memories I’ve made.
