SHORT DESCRIPTION

With this program, Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vienna provides intercultural and inclusive artistic work that enables new forms of encounters between people. The mission of Tanz die Toleranz is to enable everyone, regardless of talent and experience, age and gender, skin color, religion, ethnicity or social background, to access and participate in art and culture. Dance connects across social, cultural and linguistic barriers. The medium of dance opens up new possibilities for communication and a sense of belonging.

By participating in artistic processes through specially designed projects, participants are given the opportunity to develop their creative and artistic potential. The exploration of choreography, and movement in time and space, serves as an instrument of social inclusion. The intensive exchange in the rehearsal rooms counteracts prejudices and serves as a positive incentive to actively deal with the challenges of current socio-political events, such as increasing migration and refugee movements.

The working methods and concepts of the various projects at the interface between art and social issues are critically examined and reflected upon in a continuous development process. The aim is to create a framework in which the diversity of cultural forms of expression, interaction, mutual support, and opportunities for participation are promoted.

Volunteer profile and selection process

Applicants should be motivated to work and be interested in dance, bringing people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, religions, social backgrounds, etc. together through dance.
