DESCRIPTION
www.baseballschule.at
Baseball-Schule Wien is a non-profit organization in Vienna that promotes exercise and health for children and young people aged 4 to 16, using innovative tools such as baseball and encouraging participation and challenges.
Our motto is “Freedom to act!”, which means giving the freedom to realize yourself, both in sport and in life. The skills and competences that children and young people learn at the institution are to have a healthy, positive mentality, and, in this way, open the doors to a future with freedom to act and live independently. We apply our positive coaching methods to help increase strengths such as optimism, well-being and resilience.
Since 2019, the baseball school has taught more than 8500 children. In 2022, it has organized 17 sports festivals for schools, participated in international tournaments in Italy and Croatia, and held two major sports events with more than 100 people attending each. In the third year of existence, we have institutional collaborations with Australia, Italy, Slovenia, Germany, Poland and the USA. We collaborate with two universities on research projects, as well as with an Austrian television channel and the Austrian Foundation for Educational Innovation.
Diversity is always a way to strengthen the team, and we hope to include a European Solidarity Corps volunteer in our team!
Activities proposed for volunteers
As a volunteer, the task is alongside the coaches, supported with projects and collaborations with schools, kindergartens and social institutions, as well as with various events throughout the year. Duties include supporting administrative work and assisting in the preparation and management of projects, marketing and communication and assistance in sports activities and events.
Volunteer profile and selection process
Applicants must be motivated to work with children and have an interest in sports, project management and communication.
No prior knowledge or skills are required. It will be an advantage if you have basic knowledge of German, English or Spanish, but it is not a requirement. We especially encourage young people with fewer opportunities to apply to our project!
