From September 3rd to 11th, we had the opportunity to participate in an Erasmus youth exchange in Mussomeli, Italy. During that time, we discussed and learned about various topics, which helped us grow both personally and educationally.
One of the topics we explored was mental health; through workshops and activities, we were able to share our views, talk about our futures, expectations, and goals, and learn from one another.
Another key topic of the exchange was disinformation, false information, and misinformation. We learned to distinguish between these concepts and better recognize the manipulated information we encounter in our daily lives. We also engaged in various hands-on activities related to the subject—such as creating videos—which allowed us to work as a team and learn in a more dynamic and fun way.
Beyond what we learned, the highlight was meeting people from other countries, such as Serbia, Germany, Greece, and Italy. Interacting with people from different cultures gave us insight into other ways of thinking, allowed us to learn about new traditions, and helped us improve our English communication skills.
We were lucky to have our stay coincide with the festivities in Mussomeli, allowing us to enjoy the town's atmosphere and experience some of its traditions, such as the Madonna procession. It was a unique and very special experience, as we were able to get to know Italian and Sicilian culture by participating in local life.
Overall, it was a highly enriching experience, thanks to everything we learned, the people we met, and the moments we shared. I am certainly taking away new knowledge, memories, and experiences that I will cherish for a long time.
The exchange, organized by the organization APS Strauss, was made possible through the support of the European Commission's Erasmus+ program.
