The training of trainers ‘Understanding and Working with Conflict Vol.6’ will be held from 11th to 18th of March in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
The course is made possible due to the support of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe, and will involve 24 young people who want to carry out training actions in 15 countries around the world, and who during this week, will be able to improve their competencies to manage conflicts and to develop new training actions on conflict management and peace building in their countries.
The participants represent training and research centers, youth NGOs and education centers from Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, United Kingdom, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, Catalonia and Turkey.
This is the 6th international training organized by the Fundación Catalunya Voluntaria-FCV about the same topic in the recent years, dedicated, on this occasion, to training on conflict management in contexts marked by cultural diversity.
The course is organized by the Fundación Catalunya Voluntaria-FCV in collaboration with nonprofit organizations ‘Gyumri Youth Initiative Center‘, from Armenia, ‘European Intercultural Forum e.V‘, from Germany, and ‘ Academy for Peace and Development , from Georgia, and it is aimed at improving the quality and the impact of the educational and social transformation actions carried out by the participants in a difficult context, in which several conflicts affect a very relevant number of young people, due to various factors, including belonging to minority social and cultural groups. The course is planned as a tool to be used to learn how to plan, carry out and evaluate training actions dedicated to conflict transformation, to acquire knowledge that allows them to develop innovative methodologies that adapt to social and cultural situations in their countries having in mind the learning styles and personal situations of young people with different backgrounds.
During the course the techniques, theories and methods of intercultural and non-formal learning based on experience and reflection will be presented, in order to understand the complex nature of the conflict, the competencies that must be developed as trainers, while dedicating special attention to the skills of intercultural and interpersonal communication.
The participants have already been a part of the online training composed of 5 sessions, and during the course, they will have spaces to put into practice activities designed by themselves. It is foreseen that after the course ends the participants will organize new workshops in their own countries, contributing with their new acquired knowledge and skills to making the connections in divided and conflict-ridden communities.
