My name is Blanca, I’m 23 years old and I’m from Vigo (Galicia). I have studied the Degree in Social Work (UVigo) and I have a Master in International Cooperation (UCM). During the last eight months, from December 2018 to July 2019, I participated in a European Voluntary Service (EVS) in Osijek (Croatia).

I believe that after this adventure I have opened my mind much more, becoming more tolerant, learning from both my colleagues and the people “beneficiaries” of mine.

This  experience in Croatia makes you appreciate those cultures different from yours, you become a little anthropologist, and at the same time, you can feel a certain nostalgia and rethink aspects of your own cultural context.

All this has had a great impact on my life, it has made me grow personally and professionally, especially by learning to value the diversity of ideas, opinions, ways of life, work, points of view, etc.

I think that as a tourist I could never have come to understand the complex history that has marked Croatia and in general the Balkan countries,  and it has been incredible to discover it with all the people who have accompanied me throughout this experience.
