We have just landed from the city of Skopje! Capital of North Macedonia.

This former Yugoslavian city has one of the weakest economies in Europe and is in the process of transformation, economically and politically. The country is struggling with high unemployment rates and weak infrastructure, as well as a lack of public investment.

The city of Skopje has been chosen to host the TPM (Transnational Partner Meeting) of the Cities of Welcome Project in which we participate together with the organisations; Migrafrica (Germany), DYPALL Network (Portugal) and Citizen Association United Youth (North Macedonia). This project aims to create guidelines to promote the participation of young migrants in local decision-making in their communities.

During these four days we have been able to meet with the coordinators and participants of these organisations that make up the project to discuss and close the necessary decisions for a good consolidation of the project. It has been an intense but very rewarding work. Among these decisions we can highlight the Training Course that will take place in Cologne at the end of September 2023.

We have also had the opportunity to enjoy the gastronomy of the country, tasting typical dishes such as kebapči, cevapi and burek; we have also been able to admire the landscapes of the city that combines nature with sculptures and relevant buildings of its history. Fortunately, accompanied by magnificent weather.

Cities of Welcome is now entering the home stretch and soon we will be able to show you the results of the project, which are the results of the study that each of the four entities has carried out in their territory. We are eager to show you more, but we will still have to wait and finish polishing all the decisions I made during the TPM.
