Hello!
We are five young people, four from Catalonia and one from the Valencian Community, who had the opportunity to enjoy a youth exchange program of the Erasmus+ program “Run for Life” in Amarante, Portugal.
The experience was wonderful, the project was about sport and tried to transmit a healthy lifestyle. Some of the activities we did were: surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, and traditional games by country. We also cooked in a vegetarian restaurant, and on the intercultural night, we were able to prepare typical food from our country to share with the rest of the group, and later we learned some new dances. In addition, we visited the cities of Guimarães and Porto, which we loved, as both are beautiful and have a great heritage and cultural value.
On the last day we planted a tree, and they explained to us the importance of cork at the local level, both economically and culturally.
To be able to share an experience like this, with people from Portugal, Poland, Greece, Turkey and Italy, is really enriching and gives you a more open view of the world, and tolerance with people from different cultures.
We all started as participants, but we ended up making great friends.
We are very grateful to Fundació Catalunya Voluntària and Casa da Juventude de Amarante, for giving us the opportunity to participate in a project like this, and we hope to be able to repeat soon!
