Move to learn!
“Move to Learn!” has tried to be a project to promote volunteering among resident young people in Barcelona and Catalonia. Its aim was to make easier the fact of becoming volunteers in other European countries by focusing on the development and the recognition of personal and professional competences and abilities.
During 2016, the FCV has been sending organization of 33 youngsters on EVS projects, 28 of whom have taken part in long-term projects (from 2 to 12 months) and 5 of them in short ones. 16 of these 33 young people began their projects in 2016 and the great majority will finish them throughout 2017. The rest started during 2015 and finished their projects throughout 2016. Furthermore, FCV has facilitated the participation of 42 young people in Youth Exchanges and 17 in Training Courses.
The participants were residents from: Barcelona, Canet de Mar, Parets del Vallès, Cambrils, Moià, Santa Coloma de Farnés, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Argentona, Lleida, Folgueroles, Granollers, Vic, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Castelldefels, Vilallonga del Camp, Tona, Manlleu, Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Vilafranca del Penedes, La Llagosta, Terrasa, Palma de Cervelló, Calaf, Reus, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Figueres, Mataró, Sant Just Desvern, Viladecans, Igualada, Esplugues de Llobregat, Sant Quirze del Vallès, and Tarragona.
These projects have been carried out in diverse countries such as Armenia, Georgia, Portugal, Greece, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Romania, and Turkey. On the other hand, the topics have also been varied: from environmental protection and conservation, cultural promotion, peace education, healthy lifestyle, ecology, theatre, coaching, entrepeneurialism, LGTBI+ group awareness, project management, intercultural learning, and sports, among many others.
The FCV hosted 2 young people from Italy and Serbia who have done their volunteering in Barcelona for 9 months.
During the diverse projects, the volunteers have developed and been involved in many workshops, activities, language lessons, expositions, debates, handcrafting, outdoor activities, etc. in a 30 hour/week timetable. These activities have offered to the volunteers involved the possibility of a real learning process and space to develop their abilities, competences, aptitudes through non formal education; learn and places to develop their abilities, and competences through non-formal education; working this way not only cognitive but emotional aspects.
