The Fundació Catalunya Voluntària-FCV is pleased to announce that the international seminar ‘Volunteering for Peace’ will take place from April 1 to 7 in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) with the participation of 19 leaders, managers and volunteers from 15 non-governmental and non-profit organizations from Portugal, Italy, Macedonia, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia and Catalonia/Spain.
The seminar will create a space where to reflect, share and learn on the basis of the experience and trajectory of each participant about the potential of volunteering as a driving force to live in peace and to build peace in our communities.
During the meeting, we will provide tools, ideas and inspiration so that entities can improve the support offered to young volunteers to carry out activities with a greater impact that may effectively build peaceful societies. Besides, they will learn how to help volunteers to develop specific skills and attitudes that are useful, both to live in peace and to build peace, while volunteering or carrying out any other activity.
Participants will also learn tools to fight against discrimination and hate speech, to manage conflicts and to prevent violence. The seminar is a good opportunity to learn basic, practical and theoretical elements to implement campaigns, carry out public advocacy actions and communicate non-violently.
The seminar, carried out with the support of the European Commission (Erasmus+ Youth program) will also help us to collect activities and good practices for various publications, as well as to exchange ideas for new transnational volunteering projects, youth exchanges and training activities.
