FCV and Artixoc have been selected to carry out an innovative training activity with the aim of promoting coexistence, interculturality and responsible citizenship among young people and teenagers.

The initiative will be carried out in a particularly complex educational center in our district (Sants-Montjuïc), in Barcelona, and, once completed, its results will be presented in Belgium and Morocco.

The workshops are part of the initiative of the Spanish network of the Anna Lindh Foundation (European Institute of the Mediterranean) entitled ‘Educate in Diversity-Building Citizenship’.

The FCV and Artixoc have been selected to carry out a creative and innovative learning initiative in a secondary school, as part of the international project ‘Educate in Diversity’, an initiative that takes place at the Euro-Mediterranean scale thanks to the support of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Intercultural Dialogue.

The activity will value the theater as a source of competences while creating spaces to put into practice a set of pedagogical tools that are based on creativity and free expression, as well as on the interests, experiences and teamwork capacity of the students themselves. It will take place between the months of February and May 2021 in a highly complex center for 24 hours in total, which will allow discovering and recognizing relevant aspects of communication, acting, knowledge of the self and one’s own emotions, words, gestures and feelings, with the aim of focusing on how to develop the skills to express oneself in a non-violent way, listen actively, communicate peacefully and prevent and manage conflict situations, in order to have more resources to prevent violence and fight against the various forms of discrimination and bullying, inside and outside the classroom.

We are creating a new and different activity, which is the result of joint work between both organizations and which is built on the background of Artixoc’s 15-year history of training on theater for young people, which is complemented by that of the FCV, doing training for young people, using peace education and non-formal and intercultural methodology widely, methods in which we believe and that we will also have the opportunity to share with the teachers of the center (in a 12 hours training program).

The initiative has the collaboration of the entity Mediterranean Editors and Translators, which will edit the digital pedagogical dossier with the lessons learned from the workshops and will translate the videos into different languanges, collaborating in the dissemination of the activity, which we hope to carry out in other educational centers later, in Catalonia and in other countries.

The workshops are part of an exchange of experiences and practices with other similar initiatives taking place in Belgium and Morocco, and their results will be presented at an international event in Safi (Morocco) in June 2021, where we will show the vídeos and plays done by the students, and encourage other educational centers and youth organizations to carry out the activity. With this, there have been 3 initiatives selected throughout the State, promoted and carried out by a total of 8 non-profit entities that are members of above mentioned network, which, as a curious fact, are 4 of them Catalan and 4 Andalusian. The other two initiatives are entitled ‘Influencers of interculturality’ and ‘Emotional roots’.
