My name is Adil Riani and I’m an international master’s degree student in the EAE business school in Barcelona.

Thanks to the agreement with EAE and the Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria I’ve done my internship as a cultural mediator and now when I’m finishing it, I can say that the experience has been super useful.

My main tasks in the FCV have been to translate proposals, letters and some information from French and English to Arabic and vice versa; to search for information about programs, grants, and potential sponsors, organizing and maintaining a new database, to create information and presentation materials of FCV activities and projects on the topic of volunteering, non-formal education and intercultural learning in Arabic, etc.

It was a bit difficult for me at the beginning to find my place in the organization and to understand the terminology, but, gradually, I’ve learned how to adapt to the team and where to find the most relevant and accurate information, until one moment I’ve felt I’m a member of an inspiring family that works together for common objectives. During almost my 3 months internship, I’ve learned a lot about volunteering in general and about, specifically about youth volunteering and the positive impact it has on society.

I thank FCV for giving me the opportunity to become a member of a team that cares about how to help others and how to increase awareness about the need for a society that can help each other. It has been an unforgettable experience, really.
